The next article in my must play series, today is the N64 Top 5.
|
Today, I continue with my series of the top must plays for each system. If you missed the last two articles, you can find them here: |
5. Super Smash BrosSuper Smash Bros was the start of the series that has had people from all around the world addicted. While being on the N64, the game only had a limited amount of character. However, it had enough to get people hooked as soon as they played it. With groundbreaking fighting, great character choice, and fantastic stage design, this game takes our number 5 spot. |
4. Goldeneye 007Arguably one of the best first-person shooters of its day, Goldeneye 007 set many of the standards in the genre that still exist today. It was the first of its kind and featured one of the most loved secret agents out there. With book loads of codes, amazingly hard difficulties, and extremely fun multi-player features, this game is truly a timeless masterpiece which takes our number 4 spot. |
3. Banjo-KazooieOne of my personal favorite series is the Banjo-Kazooie series which started many years ago with this game. It featured the amazing open world feel like similar platformers, but also carried a unique humor and gameplay elements that made it stand out above the rest. Nothing was better then listening to the conversations between Kazooie, Bottles, Grunty, and Banjo. With quirky humor, amazing level designs, and fantastic gameplay, this game takes the number 3 spot. |
2. Super Mario 64This game redefined the gaming world. It showed the world what 3D gaming could offer. The game took the familiar world of Mario and put it into the wonders of the 3D world. Looking back now, it may not seem amazing or important; however, it was this game that brought the gaming world into the future. With an amazing leap in technology, great level designs, and excellent gameplay, this game takes the number 2 spot. |
1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of TimeHere it is. The game that people around the world claim to be the best game ever made. The game that received straight 10/10′s from hundreds of reviewers. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was one of the most anticipated games of all time. This game was enormous compared to other games of its time. It took the Legend of Zelda series to a whole new direction introducing huge story elements told through amazing cut-scenes. It also featured amazing dungeon design, character design, and overall world design. Playing this game again, one can see a work of perfect art. Very few games have reached the details in the designs and gameplay that are found in this game. This game is the number one must play for the N64. |

There are several games I would have liked to include in the top 5, such as Jet Force Gemini, Perfect Dark, Harvest Moon 64, Banjo-Tooie, etc… However, it is only a top 5. Hopefully everyone out there has played these games. If not, go play them now. Next week, we go to the handheld world of the Game Boy/Game Boy Color. Let me know what you think of the list and what games you would recommend that were not listed by leaving comments below. |

WHERE THE HELL IS CONKERS BAD FUR DAY!?!?!
maybe a honorable mention or something jeez!
please tell me it at least ranked 6#!?!
(and perfect dark at 7)
I agree with most of the list, although I have to say one of my all time favorite N64 games was Conkers Bad Fur Day. Not only was the single-player awesome and funny, but I played the multiplayer for days on end 4-player split-screen with my friends.
Agree with all except Banjo-Kazooie. Take that out and put Konker’s Bad Fur Day instead.
Im glad someone finally gave Banjo the respect it deserves. My favorite N64 game ever. Other than Banjo-Tooie :P
I agree with the top 4 but NOT with Smash Brothers.
there are better games Turok 2,Shadowman und naturlich Jet Force Gemini..
Super Smash Brothers and Banjo Kazooie don’t have a thing on Perfect Dark, Conkers Bad Fur Day, or Mario Kart 64. Episode 1 Racer and Rogue Squadron deserve a mention too I think
